By law, all evaluations and,if needed, subsequent
services have to be provided and paid for by the school district in which the childs parents reside.
The
parents official request in writing to the school district stating concerns in regard to the childs suspected
delays in cognitive, educational, language and motor development is sufficient to initiate the evaluation process.
The
parents also have the right to insist on the timing of the evaluations. Utilization of translators in conducting psychological,
educational and language evaluations is an unacceptable practice.
