I am a Russian born School Psychologist who obtained his undergraduate and graduate training in Clinical School Psychology in the United States. For the past eighteen years I have been working with Russian speaking children who either came to this country with their families as immigrants or were adopted by American parents residing in all five boroughs of New York City, Nassau and Suffolk Counties on Long Island, and in Westchester County in New York State.

I am a full-time School Psychologist with New York City Department of Education and have been working as a consultant with a number of agencies in New York State. I also hold consultant contracts with a few school districts on Long Island. I have established a working relationship with Dr. Jane Aronson of International Pediatric Health Services and Paul J. Lee, MD, and other doctors at Wintrop Pediatric Associates, P.C. who specialize in international adoptions.

My work with these children and their families consists of conducting psychological and educational evaluations and follow up consultations in regard to the children’s needs in making successful academic, social and emotional adjustment. I am also associated with a New York State certified bilingual (Russian) speech and language pathologist, Ms. Inna Oganesian as well as other clinicians whose evaluations are often required to identify and address the children’s needs as rapidly as possible. In order to reduce stress on the child, the evaluations are conducted at the child’s home at the time convenient to the child’s parents and the clinician conducting a particular evaluation.

I have participated in a number of workshops organized by parents who adopted children from Russia with the goal of helping them to cope with difficulties inherent in international adoptions.
